Bob and Doug McKenzie

Remember the show where two fictional brothers hosted a show called "The Great White North" played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas? It was a part of many childhood memories for most who are my age. We are currently helping out another studio design characters for the new cartoon series which is expected to air on Fox and Global Television. It is pretty funny; it reminds me a lot of The Family Guy with the little gags that happen through out the story. It certainly creates a lot of work for us, which we are very greatful for! Here is a sneak peak of a character concept that I did for one of the shows.

It's Been A While

Wow! Who would've thought that planning a wedding would take up all of my time? Well it's official. I have finally married my best friend. I will still go by my artistic name Sheryl Eldridge, but legally I will be Sheryl Brown...I know, very plain isn't it? I figured I would keep my professional name Sheryl Eldridge just so that it isn't confusing in the future for shows that already have that name in the credits. Who knows, maybe I am making it confusing by doing it this way. I guess I will find out in the future.

So I am also extremly busy at work as usual. I am trying to catch up for all of the days that I have been away; approx. 6 days. My co-workers are shocked that I am back so soon. What can I say? I am a hard worker, and truly dedicated to the shows that I work on. I am so glad to be back, but I must admit, it was a wonderful break. I have never taken a week off for myself in my life! Hard to believe isn't it? But it is true. I was sad to have found out that I missed the Carl Squared wrap up party. Apparently it was a lot of fun. But I think my wedding was more fun anyway, heh!

Carl Squared Nominated For 6 Awards

Great news!!

It has just be announced that Carl Squared has been nominated for 6 (count em' SIX) Elans!!! (what is an ELAN you might ask?  An ELAN is the Canadian award for the Electronic and the Animated Arts - the animation and game industry's answers to the Oscars).  Carl Squared is the most nominated program in the entire television series categories.

Carl and his crew have been nominated in the following categories:

Best Animated Production (Portfolio Entertainment)
Best Direction in Animation (Steve Neilson & Mike Csunyoscka for "SuperStar")
Best Male Voice Over (Stuart Stone for Carl Crashman and C2 for "SuperStar")
Best Female Voice Over (Emily Hampshire for Chloe Crashman for "Carl SuperSized")
Best Original Musical Score (Pure West - Paul Koffman and Tim Foy for "SuperStar")
Best Writing (Pete Sauder & Dale Schott for "Doomsday")

The ceremony will take place in Vancouver on February 15th where Julie Stall will represent the Carl crew.  I hope she has enough luggage space to bring home all those awards!!!

Princess

Here is a princess that I designed for Cyber Chase. The episode was called "Unhappily Ever After". I loved working on this show because I was able to design this princess, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. You know, girly stuff. It was a lot of fun. I also chose to display this one because it was the first design I did on another show other than Carl Squared. As you can see Carl Squared is more realistic, whereas Cyber Chase is more cartoony.

Bull Dog

I love this guy. He's so ugly, he's cute! I wish you could see internally how much work goes into these builds in Flash. There are literally hundreds, sometimes a thousand pieces that we design and technically setup per character. Each design has to be setup properly so that the animator can use them. The mouths and expressions are priceless. Maybe One day I will export them onto another page and do an expression page. Traditionally that would be done on paper with pencil, but we don't usually make an expression or mouth chart because it is built into the flash file; unless requested by the client.

Fefe Dobson

Here is a design I did of Canadian singer Fefe Dobson, who guest stared in Carl Squared "Teen Superstar" show. Children actually called in to vote for either Jamie, Skye or Carl as you would see on Canadian or American Idol. The show was a big success. Our animation team actually had to animate 3 different endings depending on who the winner was. Hats off to the animators that worked so hard on the show, and to everyone that made it a big success. Girly's Drawn For Fun

I know, I'm still that same girl that loved drawing girls as a young child. I find it so simple to do. I also like fashion and hair, so I guess that's why I love drawing them so much.

Concepts: Zodiac Girls

Here are some concepts that I did in 2006 for Portfolio Entertainment for a show that was in the works called The Zodiac Girls. I was really excited to be working on a girly show, but unfortunately the show did not take off.
